The problem

You get one go.

No second try, and nobody explains what happened.

  1. 01

    You think too long

By the time you have a line, the moment has gone.

  2. 02

    It comes out flat

You say it, it lands badly, and you think about it all evening.

  3. 03

    You learn nothing

You never find out which bit was the problem. So you do it again.

How it works

Pick a place. Start talking.

Pick a place

A café, a beach, a gym, a festival.

Talk

Hold the button and speak. She answers, and she can be cool about it.

See your score

What worked, what did not, and what to say instead.

Pick somewhere to walk into

Two people talking while waiting in a coffee shop queue.

The queue. Thirty seconds of shared waiting, and an opening if you take it.

The good news

You can practise this.

It is a first minute you have never rehearsed, not a personality you were not born with.

  • Nobody is watching

Your phone, your room. No stranger, no friend asking how it went.

  • She can say no

Sometimes she is not interested. It never tells you to push. Spotting that is the skill.

  • Try again and again

Say the same opener twenty times and hear what changes.

  • Warm up first

Two goes before you head out, so the first real person is not the practice.

What you get

Somewhere new every time.

Enough places and people that it never becomes one memorised script.

Questions

Before you ask.

Do I have to talk out loud?

Yes. You hold a button and speak, and she speaks back. There is no typing.

Is she always friendly?

No. You choose how open she is, and sometimes she is not interested. It never tells you to push — noticing is the skill.

Is it just a guess?

No. Your speed, pauses and filler words are measured from the recording. Tap any score to see the numbers.

What happens to my recordings?

Your voice is used to score the session and nothing else. Transcripts and scores stay until you delete them, and deleting your account removes them. No contacts, photos or location. No ads.

What does it cost?

Free to start — three conversations a week. Paid plans give you more.

How do I get it?

It is on TestFlight for iPhone. Tap Get early access and it takes you there.
